Wisdom Keeps You from Adultery

21 This is what the woman said to tempt the young man, and her smooth words tricked him. 22 He followed her, like a bull being led to the slaughter. He was like a deer walking into a trap, 23 where a hunter waits to shoot an arrow through its heart. The boy was like a bird flying into a net, never seeing the danger he was in.
24 Now, sons, listen to me. Pay attention to what I say. 25 Don’t let your heart lead you to an evil woman like that. Don’t go where she wants to lead you. 26 She has brought down some of the most powerful men; she has left many dead bodies in her path. 27 Her house is the place of death. The road to it leads straight to the grave.

Proverbs 7:21-27 ERV

Alluring words from an adulterous person can take you straight to the pits of torment. The Bible gives warning here to avoid this type of seductive talk. Don’t listen to it. Don’t go with the seducer. Just stay away. Walk away. Look the other way. Do not give satan a foothold (Ephesians 4:27). Do the right things for the right reasons. You have a choice. Think of your spouse and do for them that which you would want them to do for you.

Pray with me please.

Father God,
There is all wisdom in Your word. You have pointed out the wrongs of adultery over and over again. Help us all male and female to avoid the folly of adultery. Help us to not even entertain the thought of adultery. Let us always and only be satisfied and thrilled with our spouse alone. May we always flee sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18). Help us to engross our minds in Your word. Give us the strength to resist those temptations. May we glorify You with our bodies for they are temples of Your Holy Spirit. We were bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). God You are good, and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). We can avoid adultery at all costs by the power of Your Spirit living in us. Hallelujah. Glory to Your most holy name. May Your kingdom come, and Your will be done. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
