I think sometimes as Christians we lose focus. It seems that our focus needs focus. We need to be reminded to keep our eye, minds and hearts focused on the things that are heavenly not earthly. May we not get caught up in the ways of the world (whose eyes are on themselves and whatever pleases them). That is not what God wants from us. We have to be 100 percent sold out to Jesus.
How we seek those things which are above is easy. Just make a choice to think about God. Read and meditate on His holy word, the Bible. Attend church regularly. Listen to uplifting music and watch only wholesome television shows.
Store up treasures in Heaven by doing the things that please the Lord. Things such as but not limited to, witnessing to others about the Good News (Matthew 28:19-20), giving to the poor (Proverbs 19:17), helping the widows and orphans, keeping ourselves unspotted from the world (James 1:27) and visiting those in prison (Hebrews 13:3). We have choices in life.
We thank and praise You for Your goodness, mercy and all-encompassing love. You are so wonderful. We cannot even say how great You are for mere words fail us. Help us to keep our focus on the things above (Colossians 3:1-2), the things that really matter. May we never give up or give in to the world or its desires. This world is perishing. Heaven is our home. We want You to be pleased with us (2 Corinthians 5:9). We so want to hear You say, “Well done…” Everything else on earth pales in comparison to You and the joy that awaits us in Heaven. We ask for Your Holy Spirit to lead and guide us in the path that You have laid out for us (Romans 8:14 & John 16:13). May we never get tripped up by losing our focus. We love You. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
