It is God’s will that we separate ourselves from the unholy things of this world and dedicate ourselves to His service. Also, it is His will that we abstain from sexual immorality. We can deny the flesh and live in the Spirit (Galatians 5:17). These are choices that we make daily.
The word holiness, that God calls us to, describes something that is set apart for God. We are to be holy in every area of our lives and we are to be holy for God is holy (1 Peter 1:15-16). We can do this by the power of Christ living in us (Ephesians 3:16-20).
It is by His power that we are saved by grace through faith and made holy (Ephesians 2:8-10). Then we are called to listen to God and make every effort to live in peace and be holy each day (Hebrews 12:14). No, we will never be perfect in this life (Romans 3:10 & 23), but God works in our submitted lives to help us to live for Him (Philippians 2:13).
We are so thankful that we do not have to do this life alone. You give us the power that we need to live for You. You have cleansed us through Your blood. Help us to daily deny our flesh and live in Your Spirit. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). We can make right choices that begin in our hearts. We can walk away from things, people or situations that are unholy. We can turn off inappropriate music or television shows. We can choose not to dwell on things that are not righteous. We can look the other way when confronted with lust and deny it. We can turn to You more and more ever learning at Your feet. Thank You for Your goodness, mercy and love. Thank You for the strength that we need to live holy lives for Your glory. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
