Toxic Talker

A fool has no delight in understanding,
But in expressing his own heart.

Proverbs 18:2 NKJV

Have you ever been around someone who never really wants to listen the truth in the Bible and all that person wants to do is blurt out their own ideas and opinions? These people do not care about learning the saving knowledge of the Bible. All they want to do is hear themselves talk.

So how do we apply this verse and its straightforward meaning to our lives? What if we were to encounter such an individual? What should our response be?

Well first of all, as Christ-followers, we are told to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry (James 1:19).

If we come across someone like that who has no intent to listen to the saving knowledge that God has laid out for us through Christ (John 3:16), or they deny that Jesus is Lord (1 John 4:1-3), or they say that there is any other way to Heaven other than through Jesus (John 14:6), we should definitely not get into an argument with them (2 Timothy 2:14, 23-25). Never call them a fool (Matthew 5:22) or any other name for it is not our place to judge (Matthew 7:1-2). We are only called to humble ourselves (James 4:10) and pray (James 5:16). Imagine the torment that awaits this person if he or she does not change their mind and accept Christ as their Lord and Savior (Luke 16). The thing to do (unless God tells you otherwise) is walk away and pray for them. Pray that their eyes would be opened to the truth and that they would see their folly before it is eternally too late (Ephesians 1:18 & Hebrews 9:27-28).

Pray with me please,

Father God,
Thank You for giving us wisdom. You possess all knowledge and You give to us Your wisdom and understanding. Everything that we may need to know can be found in the pages of Your wonderful word of Life. We just want to thank You for Your great provisions. You are good. Hallelujah. We sing along with the song ‘You are My All In All’: You are my strength when I am weak., You are the treasure that I seek., You are my all-in-all. Jesus Lamb of God, worthy is Your name. Lord, we ask today for the wisdom in dealing with those whose only desire is themselves, and they have no want of understanding for Your truths contained in Your Holy Word, the Bible. Guide us in all things. We surrender our all at Your feet. Use us for Your glory. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

  1. Good morning, {{{Donna}}} – it’s 4:am and I can’t sleep. Decided to stop fighting it. Got up. Made a cup o’ Java and climbed up to my angels, my peaceful sanctuary, my devos & Bibles. Yes, my answers are here … and your blog is a part of those devotionals. Thank you for reminding me: “Everything that we may need to know can be found in the pages of [God’s] wonderful word of Life.” Psalm 104:34 … Rejoice!

    1. Hello sweet lady. I have been busy on my new crochet patterns. I am starting the daisy one first. I will do the flag soon. Might do them both at the same time. It is fun to do. I don’t know why I quit for such a long time. It is a great pass time. 🙂
I am so sorry you couldn’t sleep. I have been doing the same thing. Seems to be getting worse. But at least I can rest around 4 to 5 am for a few hours. Today I got 6 so that is good because last night was a sleepless one. I tell you it is no fun pulling an all nighter. I am way too old for that lol.
In all things give thanks. I am thankful for you Jan. I am thankful for life itself. Thankful for this blog and.the.people the Lord has reading. I pray it reaches all around the world. May the Lord’s message go far and wide and may many souls come to the saving knowledge of Jesus our Savior.
Have a wonderful day! Sending hugs and love your way. 🤗💜
