Great Understanding

One who is slow to anger has great understanding;
But one who is quick-tempered exalts foolishness.

Proverbs 14:29 NASB

Father God,
Your word says if any lacks wisdom let him ask You. You generously give wisdom to all men. You said that You would give it to us (James 1:5). You didn’t say You might or that You would think about it or even that we would have to go through a thousand hurdles first. No, You said in Your word that You would give us wisdom. We just have to ask in faith believing. We have faith that You are God and that You are our rewarder for we are diligently seeking You (Hebrews 11:6). We know that there is no favoritism with You (Colossians 3:25). All that You want is our hearts. You want us to love You because we want to. And we do Lord. We love You for so many reasons. The more we spend time with You in Your word, in conversation with You and among Your people the more our love for You grows. You are changing us to be more Christlike. We are dying to the flesh and living in Your Spirit. It is no longer we who live, but it is Christ who lives in us (Galatians 2:20). We ask today for Your wisdom that comes from Heaven which is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere (James 3:17). That wonderful wisdom which will guide us in all of our dealings with the ungodly ones. We ask that You give us the strength that we need to be patient, graceful and silent in the face of any adversaries. We also ask for wisdom in knowing when we are to speak. May we never shrink away from the truth of the Gospel but rather be bold in our understanding of Your truths. May Your word be etched so deeply in our hearts that we would always have the right answer to give to every person at any given time. Most of all, Lord, we pray that Your kingdom come and Your will be done in every single aspect of our lives and in this world. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.
