Watching Over Us

For the Lord is righteous,
He loves righteousness;
His countenance beholds the upright.

Psalm 11:7 NKJV

I looked up synonyms for righteous today. Here are a few.

good, virtuous, upright, upstanding, decent, worthy, law-abiding, honest, innocent, honorable, blameless, sinless, pure

Think about those things for a minute if you will. God is all of them. God also loves the act of us doing them. Read the list again place the words God loves for me to be in front of each one.

Now let’s look at the next sentence. His countenance beholds the upright. God is kindly and compassionately watching over us. He cares about us. We are safe in His care. He is our loving Father.

Pray with me please.

Father God,
We ask today that You would flood our hearts with Your Holy Spirit. Please change us from glory to glory. Help us to be ever growing in closeness to You. We need Your help to be able to possess the qualities of being good, virtuous, upright, upstanding, decent, worthy, law-abiding, honest, innocent, honorable, blameless, sinless, and pure. We want with all of our hearts to be pleasing in Your sight. When we see You on that glorious day, we want You to say, “Well done.” Nothing else matters than that Your will is done in our lives. Help us to be better people and to shine brightly for Your glory. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
