Breaking Chains

But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him.

Acts 12:5 NLT

We see in this chapter that King Herod Agrippa was persecuting some believers in the church. He had the apostle James killed with a sword. Then he had Peter arrested and imprisoned. God had other plans for Peter. Notice in the verse above that the church prayed very earnestly for Peter. Guess what happened next? An angel of the Lord appeared to Peter and the chains that the prisoners used to bind him fell off his wrists! He was set free! There were guard posts and even an iron gate but guess what the iron gate opened by itself! That is what happens when God’s people pray. Chains fall away and prison doors are opened.

I encourage you to read or reread the whole chapter in the following link or in your own Bible. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+12&version=KJV,NLT

It is time that the church start praying. Pray for others like you would want them to pray for you if you were in their situation. Let’s see some chains falling and prisoners set free! God is able.

Pray with me please.

Father God,
You are so awesome. Words cannot grasp the magnificence of Your being. You are holy and we praise You for Your goodness. Thank You so much for Your word. We ask today that Your word come alive in us. Awaken Your children to pray earnestly for each other. I ask that everyone reading today would have their eyes opened and they would see the magnitude of Your power in their prayer lives. Open all of our eyes to reach out and truly pray for others. We ask that Your Holy Spirit would intercede for us at all times. Guide and direct us. We love You and want only Your will to be done in our lives. Oh hallelujah. Praise Your Holy name forever. You are worthy of our praises. Thank You for moving in behalf of Your children. You are our strength when we are weak. You are our treasure. All of our hope is in You. We ask that chains start breaking in our lives and in the lives of those You lay on our hearts to pray for. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
