Beyond the Grave

18 Then the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him, saying, 19 “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves his wife behind, but leaves no children, that man must take the wife and raise up children for his brother. 20 Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and when he died, he left no children. 21 The second took her and died, leaving no children, and the third likewise. 22 The seven had her and left no children. Last of all, the woman died too. 23 In the resurrection, when they rise, whose wife will she be? For the seven had her as wife.”
24 Jesus answered them, “Do you not err, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God? 25 When they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 26 Now concerning the dead rising, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the account about the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob’? 27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. You therefore do greatly err.”

Mark 12:18-27 MEV

If the only hope that we had was in this world only we would be the most miserable people. Our hope is in God. We will be clothed with life when we die (1 Corinthians 15:54). We will have eternal life with our Lord and Savior. In these earthly bodies we groan and suffer but one day we will have a heavenly body (2 Corinthians 5:1-10). There will be no more suffering, pain or tears (Revelation 21:4). How exciting for those who have made Jesus their Lord.

Pray with me please.

Father God,
Thank You for the gift of eternal life that You have given to all who have made Jesus their Lord and Savior by trusting in the free Gift that You have given to all who would believe. You love this world so much. You gave the greatest gift that ever could be given. You have paid for our Salvation with the precious blood that was shed on the cross for our sins (John 3:16). How can we ever thank You enough? Please strengthen us so that we would continually live for You while in these earthly bodies. We know that this world is not our home. We are just passing through here. Heaven is our home. We look forward to the day when we will be with You and see You face to face. Thank You for the life we have in Christ. May we use the gifts and talents that You have given us in this present life for Your glory. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
