41 Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. Many who were rich put in much. 42 But a certain poor widow came and put in two mites, which make a farthing.

43 He called His disciples to Him and said to them, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. 44 They all contributed out of their abundance. But she, out of her poverty, put in all that she had, her entire livelihood.”
Are we flaunting our generosity to have our ego stroked by others? Is human approval more important to us than God’s approval? What He wants is our heart. All of it. Every single part. We need to be giving to others out of love for Him and a desire to make Him happy, not so we can look good in front of others. We are not to let praise from others be our motivation in giving (Matthew 6:1-3). I just read today that our attitudes can be just as sinful as our actions (Matthew 5). The Lord is concerned about our heart. What is our motivation?
Father God,
Thank You for Your many blessings. Thank You for the peace, love and joy that You have given us. Thank You for the life and direction that we have in You. Thank You that even when we die we will be swallowed up in life. What great victory is ours through You. We have nothing to fear and eternal life with You to gain. What a good Father You are. Thank You for Your provision and protection. We ask that our hearts would always be right in Your sight. Help us to be the people that You want us to be saying and doing the right things for the right reasons. May we always seek Your approval and not man’s. Thank You for our strength even when we are weak for it is then that we are strong. Receive all the glory for our submitted lives and draw each and every one of us closer to Your side. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
