The above was the people’s reaction when faced with the truth of their condition. They didn’t believe. They questioned Jesus’ deity. They questioned by asking in verse 22, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” Here is the link for the entire chapter. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+4&version=KJV,NKJV
They let their pride swell up and refused to believe. They got so mad and wanted to chase Jesus away and even throw Him off the cliff for the truth that He was sharing with them.
My takeaway from this chapter is first of all to have faith in God and do what God wants us to do. That may not always be the popular thing to do but we cannot compromise the word of God to satisfy itchy ears (2 Timothy 4:3-4). We cannot placate the people or water down the Gospel. We have to Stand Tall (as I mentioned in yesterday’s blog) and do or say that which is pleasing to the Lord. It is Him we will answer to (2 Corinthians 5:10). His opinion is the only one that matters.
Help us to always remember that Your opinion is what matters. It doesn’t matter if we are applauded by the world. It is Your favor we seek. Help us to always and only think, say and do that which is pleasing to You. Continue working in us, softening our hearts. Make us to be more and more in Your likeness.
Thank You for Your word. Thank You for encouragement that You give us and the enlightenment. May we continue to let You illuminate our path. We love You so much. You are a good Father. You are kind, loving and merciful. It is in You that we trust and in You that we lean on. In Jesus’name we pray.. Amen.
