And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.
Deuteronomy 28:13 NKJV
We see here there was a condition for being above and not beneath. We have to heed the commandments of God. What is heed? Some synonyms are pay attention to, take notice, listen, take into consideration, follow, obey, keep, adhere to, and observe. That is why it is imperative to read, meditate on and thoroughly digest the word of God. May His word ever be on our minds, hearts and lips.
Father God,
We love You so much. We are thankful for the many mighty works that You have done in our lives. We are thankful for Your tender love, mercy, grace and compassion. Help us to heed Your commandments and to obey them. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak (Matthew 26:41). Strengthen us so that we can be lights of Yours in this dark world. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
