“And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write:
Revelation 2:8-11 NASB
The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this:9 ‘I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich), and the slander by those who say they are Jews, and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.
In this world we shall have tribulations (a state of great suffering of body or mind) Jesus said, but He also said to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world (John 16:33). He told us that so we would have peace. No matter what heartaches come our way we can have peace knowing that Jesus overcame. He gives us the same power through His Holy Spirit to overcome as well. With every difficulty there arises therefore the question, “Do I do what I know is right?” or “Do I follow that fleshly & worldly side and do that which I know to be wrong?” It is always there even if for the briefest of moments. It is there. We have a choice. May it always be our choice to do the right thing at the right time in all of our situations and when we fail occasionally, may we be so close to God that we automatically reach for His unending hand of mercy and forgiveness so that He can restore us into right fellowship with Him.
Father God,
How wonderful it is to be able to come to You with every single word or action. Thank You so much for ALWAYS being there for Your children. You have given us so much. We are thankful for Your great love, mercy, kindness and forgiveness. Please help us to be faithful to You no matter what situation comes our way. Help us to stand firm with our feet planted on the Rock (Jesus). Grow in us with the power of Your Holy Spirit. Help us to always walk in a way that is pleasing in Your sight. Thank You for the crown of life that You have promised to Your faithful ones. Help us to always patiently endure whatever comes our way knowing that You will give us our reward. May our lives shine brightly for Your glory. Enable us with the power that we need to be great witnesses of Yours to all those in our sphere of influence. How horrible for those who reject You and have to face the second death. May the eternal separation of those in our lives from You be our motivation to get serious about living out and speaking out about our testimony for You. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Yes, dear Heavenly Father, “Help us to always patiently endure whatever comes our way knowing that You will give us our reward.” Amen
