A Humble Heart

If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

John 13:14 NKJV

Often, we think to ourselves that the powerful, rich or those in high positions are inherently better than those who are weak, poor or below others in their status. Some would even think that to do certain things is just “beneath” them and they hire others to do those menial things for them.

Jesus came in the picture and showed everyone what true greatness looks like. He is the Lord and Master. He did not think it was beneath Him to do a chore that the “lowly” did. He showed how to lead with love and humility. We should follow His example. We certainly will, if we love Him.

Pray with me please.

Father God,
We are so thankful for Your great love and wisdom. Thank You for Your word. Thank You for the many blessings that are in every letter of Your word. Thank You for the great privilege to even be able to read what You have to say to us in the Holy Bible. You are awesome, great and mighty! There is none like You. We give You all praise. Help us that we should never think more highly of ourselves than we ought to. Help us to practice the true greatness of a humble heart. May we, as Christ-filled believers, do that which is pleasing in Your sight. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
