As God’s church we need to be clothed in righteousness (definition of righteousness is the quality of being morally right).
Also we need to speak the truth in love to one another.
Ephesians 4:25 NASB Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.
If we are to confront a brother or sister. We have to do it in meekness (gentleness, softness, patience).
Remember love covers a multitude of sin. (1 Peter 4:8 NASB)
Galatians 6:1 KJV Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
The following is an accurate, biblical description of love.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NASB Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
God says in His word to let all be done in love. (1 Corinthians 16:14 NASB)
We have read in His word that love is: patient, kind, doesn’t envy, doesn’t envy, not proud, does not dishonor others, not self seeking, not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrong.
Ye which are spiritual…a characteristic of a spiritual state is humility.
The fruit of the Spirit is….Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. (Galatians 5:22-23)
I would suggest that we check our responses accordingly. Are we walking in the Spirit? Is the fruit of the Spirit evident in our lives?
Let’s stop here and pray.
Oh most wonderful, gracious, loving, kind awesome and amazing Father, We, Your children, adore You, Lord. Thank You for Your word. You continue to provide for Your children in all ways. You supply all of our needs. Right now our need is to become more aware of anything that is not a characteristic of love in our lives. Please reveal it to us. Thank You, Lord, that You are faithful. We repent of any wrong thought or attitude. We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Lord, let us walk in Your love. Let our lives exhibit the fruit of Your Spirit. Help us, Lord God, to be Your children in word and deed. For it is then and only then that we can approach any brother or sister that we see overtaken in a sin. May we please honor You in ALL that we do or say. Let everything be done according to Your will for our lives. Bless Your holy name forever king Jesus. Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. In Your name we pray. Amen.
