The Good Shepherd

Yahweh Roi is the Hebrew name for God meaning the Lord is my Shepherd.

The proper way to pronounce His name is yah-WEH row-EE.

Psalm 23:1-3 NKJV

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

God has used the comparison of believers to sheep because they actually have a natural tendency to wander off and get lost just like people do (Romans 7:5 & 8:8, 1 John 2:16 & Isaiah 53:6). When away from the fold, sheep are in danger. We must listen closely to what God’s word says, so that we do not drift from the right path (Hebrews 2:1).

Jesus is the Good Shepherd and He has laid down His life for His sheep (John 10:11).

Pray with me please.

Father God,

We are so thankful for Your great love and concern for us, Your sheep. We are lost without You and we have everything with You. Help us to stay in the warmth of Your presence. We ask that we would grow closer and closer to You. We so want to be so close to You, that when we leave this earth we will still be talking with You along the way. Death and the grave do not fear us for we know that You have conquered the grave and when we become absent from this body we will be in Your presence. What peace and joy You give us. You are awesome and we love You so much, Lord. Thanks for every blessing that You have given us. We praise Your holy name, asking all things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

    1. Sounds like fun! I wanted to go to Alaska. I was just talking to my husband about it, but with the way of the world right now we are happy to just stay at home. May the Lord protect you and bless you in Jesus’ name.
