Live What We Believe

In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

Luke 12:1-3 NKJV

Hypocrisy as defined in the online dictionary is the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one’s own behavior does not conform. Some synonyms are false virtue, pretense, insincerity, falseness, deception, dishonesty and empty talk.

Jesus said to beware (be cautious and alert to the dangers) of hypocrisy. Once again, He shows by what He is saying that what is in the heart is what matters. You cannot hide from God. There is no saying whatever filth, garbage or slander that you want to and think that you won’t have to answer for it or think that no one hears. I am here to tell you that God hears every word. So be careful what you say. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34). So, fill your heart and mind with the word of God. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you (James 4:8).

Pray with me please.

Good morning, dearest Heavenly Father,
Thank You for always being here for us. Thank You for the wisdom and strength that You provide. Day after day, You never let us down. You are real. You are the truth. You are alive. You are awesome and we love You. We ask today that You put a guard over our mouths (Psalm 141:3). Flood our hearts with the truth of Your word that we may not sin against You (Psalm 119:11). Help us to meditate on Your word. We want even our thoughts to be pleasing in Your sight. No matter where we are, may we always remember that You are there to help, strengthen and encourage Your children. You are a good God. You are worthy of all praise. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
