Motive

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. ¹² I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ ¹³ And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ ¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Luke 18:11-14 NKJV

It is not about what you may be doing. It is about the heart. Why are you doing what you are doing? Are you humble in all considering yourself? Do you give to receive worldly praise and honor? What is your motive?

Father God,
We ask for Your mercy today. We are all just sinners saved by Your grace. It is nothing that we have done, but all that You have done. You have given us such love, mercy and compassion. All You want is our heart. We give You our heart. We are Yours. Have Your way in our lives. We trust You and are secure in You. Help us to always be pleasing in Your sight. May we always be doing the right things for the right reasons. May we bring honor to Your great name. Thank You so much for everything that You do for us. We love You so much. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
