Worthy or Not Worthy

He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.  And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.  He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.

Jesus speaking in Matthew 10:37-39 NKJV

We are called to love Jesus more than anyone else.
Our life has to be a faithful testimony of the Lord’s love, grace, mercy and forgiveness. We have to ‘take up our cross’ (bear with any and all problems, persecutions, other’s hatred of us, any trials and sufferings). We need to be patient (Romans 12:12), cheerful (James 1:2-4) and faithful (1 Peter 4:12) in the face of these, as well trust that our God is faithful (1 Corinthians 1:9) and He will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear and also, He will provide a way out so that we can endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13). Remember there is a reward waiting for us in Heaven (Matthew 5:12).
This world is not our home (2 Corinthians 5:1). We are just passing through. The riches and glories of this world should hold no luster for us.
Our life and its meaning are now found in the Lord Jesus Christ. We make it our aim to please Him, not man (2 Corinthians 5:9). Jesus is our great example (1 Peter 2:21). He led by example, and we are to model His behavior. Anyone who does not show in his/her life that they are following God are not worthy of Him. He wants us to preach and teach the Gospel (Mark 16:15). We have to agree with and follow the Word in all of our thoughts, actions and dealings. Our lives must show others that there has been a change in us. As a believer in Jesus, we do not have to do it alone. In fact, the Lord supplies all that we need (Philippians 4:19). Through His strength, we are able to live a victorious life (1 John 5:4 & Romans 8:37). He (being loving, gracious and merciful) is always right there to pick us back up when we fall. We serve such an amazing God. He is good. He is worthy of all praise (Psalm 96:4).

Pray with me please.

Father God,
Our hearts, minds and souls are Yours. We declare that You are Lord over all creation. We deny the flesh and ask that You grow in us. Please get us ready, oh Lord, ready to meet You, having nothing or no one holding us back from growing in Your truths and living out Your purposes for our lives. We need You. We need the power of Your Holy Spirit to be fully functioning and alive in You. Thank You so much for providing everything that we need to live a life that is honoring to You. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done in all things. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
