Slow Down

Today everything is so fast paced. It seems we are a society that is on the go, run, run, run, be active, go here or there quickly, get everything done on time. I mean there’s kids and with that comes a multitude of running to school, for activities at school or through school, then there is out of school activities. We are a society on the go. We want to even listen to eBooks so that we don’t have to stop, sit still and read.  Which isn’t in itself a bad thing. But if we make ourselves too busy to get into that quiet place with God so that we can hear His still small voice, what have we really accomplished? It is time to slow down a bit. Let our hearts be pierced, corrected, cleansed and renewed by spending time with the Lord. Let’s start each day with a prayer, an invitation, an opening so to speak for His Holy Spirit to guide us. Let’s become renewed by the transforming power of His word.

We rush, rush, rush and never get things done. The funny thing is in all of our busyness it becomes just like doing dishes, in that, it is a repetitive process. It just needs done over and over without giving us any completion. The actual completeness comes from filling that God shaped hole in our hearts with more of You. Please, let today be a day that we honor You by opening Your word. Help us to quiet our hearts so that we can hear from You. In this race of life with all of the running and activities may we be reaching out to You Lord, our great Coach, to receive  every day instruction for everything we need it for. We are stopping and trusting in You. Praise Your holy name forever. In Jesus name, with love, we pray.

John 14:2 KJV “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”

Since Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us, shouldn’t we be ready?
