Magnitude of God

God is great and greatly to be praised. He created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). He created all the things in them. He breathed life into man and man became a living being. He is all-powerful and all knowing. He is light and in Him is no darkness (1 John 1:5). Our God can do anything. The following is the greatness of God as expressed in scripture:

• He alone gives eternal life!

John 3:16 KJV   For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

• We are valuable to Him.

Matthew 6:26 NLT   Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?

• His way is perfect.

Psalm 18:30 NIV   As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.

• He is a God of justice.

Psalm 50:6 KJV   And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself.

• He is compassionate.

Psalm 116:5 NIV   The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.

• He dwells with us!

Revelation 21:3 KJV   And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

Joshua 1:8-9 NIV   Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

• He gives grace to us.

Psalm 84 11-12 NASB   For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

 

• He fights for us.

Deuteronomy 20:1-4 NIV   When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you. 2 When you are about to go into battle, the priest shall come forward and address the army. 3 He shall say: “Hear, Israel: Today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not panic or be terrified by them. 4 For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”

 

• God is all powerful and deserves our worship.

Hebrews 12:29 KJV   For our God is a consuming fire.

• God deserves our reverence for His greatness.

Hebrews 10:31   It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

 

Heavenly Father,

I praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). You have made me in Your image (Genesis 1:27).  You  have made all things wonderful and this my soul knows very well. No good thing will You withhold from those whose walk is blameless (Psalm 84:11). You love to give good gifts to Your children (Matthew 7:11). You are an awesome and amazing, totally loving and nurturing Father. You are so great and mighty. You are also the God of judgement. You will have Your will and way. Nothing or no one can thwart Your purposes and Your power. I pity the person who would try to stand in Your way. 

Father, I humble myself in Your presence. Please let Your will be done in my life. I submit to Your authority and I will walk in the fullness of the power that You have given me. Open my spiritual eyes so that I can know what Your will is for my steps. I trust You that as I yield to You, everything will be done in accordance with Your plan for my life. Lead and guide me Father, for it is in You I trust and it is You I aim to please. In Jesus’ name I ask. Amen.
